Coalfield Yellow Jackets Dominate Wartburg Central 62-0 in Game of the Week

The Coalfield Yellow Jackets put on a masterclass in all three phases of the game on Friday, October 16, cruising past the Wartburg Central Bulldogs with a 62-0 victory in the OEB Law Game of the Week. Offense, defense, and special teams all fired on all cylinders as Coalfield pushed its record to 7-1 on the season.

Dominance in Every Phase

From the opening kickoff, Coalfield set a relentless pace. The offense moved the ball effortlessly, while special teams delivered back-to-back splash plays, including punt return touchdowns from both Bo Wilson (56 yards) and Hadyn Hedrick (20 yards). The game also marked a major career milestone for Hedrick, who officially crossed the 2,000-career-rushing-yards threshold during the contest.

At the center of Coalfield’s scoring explosion was playmaker Bo Wilson, who found the end zone three different ways—rushing, receiving, and via special teams. When asked about his versatile performance after the game, Wilson was quick to redirect the credit to his front line.

“It starts at the O-line. They always block their butts off, man. You got to be able to block, throw it, and stuff, you know, run it. Hats off to them.”

— Bo Wilson

Wilson added that the team’s relentless effort matched their core identity:

“We hang our hat on physicality, so I feel like we was pretty physical tonight.”

— Bo Wilson

Defensive Lockdown: Zero First Downs Allowed

While the offense put up 62 points, Coalfield’s defense delivered a historic performance, holding Wartburg Central without a single first down for the entire game.

Defensive leaders Cam Greer (9 tackles, 2.5 TFL), Blake Hester (8 tackles, 1.5 TFL), and Caiden Norris (7 tackles, 2.5 TFL) set a firm perimeter, preventing Wartburg from establishing any momentum. Hester, who also made an impact on offense with a 59-yard touchdown burst up the middle, praised the unit’s complete effort after the game.

“I thought our defense played great. Zero first downs the entire game, and offense just scored a lot when we had to.”

— Blake Hester

When asked what was going through his mind during his 59-yard touchdown run, Hester kept his response short and simple:

“I was just trying not to get caught.”

— Blake Hester

Hester also highlighted several key teammates who stepped up throughout the night:

“I thought Bo played good. Cam played great on defense, and our whole defensive line just played great, too.”

— Blake Hester
