Team History and Awards
Harriman High School, located at 920 N Roane St in Harriman, Tennessee, fields athletic teams known as the Blue Devils, sporting royal blue and white colors. The school’s varsity football program has a proud tradition dating back decades, competing on Wallace-Black Field and representing the Roane County community with distinction.
The Blue Devils achieved their greatest success when they won the Tennessee state championship in 2017, a milestone achievement that remains the highlight of the program’s history. Beyond this championship, Harriman has demonstrated consistent competitiveness with an impressive district play record of 106 wins and 18 losses. The program has made six sub-state appearances and six region championship appearances, winning four region titles throughout its history. The Blue Devils compete in TSSAA Division I Class 1A, Region 2.
Team Highlights and Notable Players
2017 State Championship: The pinnacle of Harriman football came with the state championship victory in 2017, establishing the program as one of Tennessee’s elite Class 1A programs.
Program Achievements: With 106 district wins against just 18 losses, four region titles, and multiple playoff appearances, Harriman has built a tradition of excellence in East Tennessee high school football.
New Leadership – Coach Kwayu Graham: In April 2025, Harriman welcomed Kwayu Graham as the new head coach, succeeding Travis Tapp who had led the program for over 30 years. Graham brings an impressive background to the Blue Devils:
- Two-time all-state receiver at Oak Ridge High School
- Successful college career at East Tennessee State University
- Led Austin-East to a state championship as head coach
- Multi-state coaching experience
- Emphasizes character development, hard work, and building winners from youth leagues up

- Jeremaine Copeland – Former University of Tennessee football player who starred on UT’s 1998 National Championship team
